OOTD: First Time Body-Con

One trend I really haven't gotten into is the whole body-con look. Not that I don't like it... it's just that I'm pushing 30, I work in an office, and to be honest, I'm shy. So like most things, I'm taking it in baby steps. I ordered this body-con dress from Asos in a size 22. It's not skin tight but there is some definite VBO and it hugs my butt which is awkward since I've never quite cared to highlight that part of me before but it's black so that helped me feel less "out there." I also cheated and used a cute floral scarf as a cover up. It's how I roll. *puts on super-model face*

I think I forgot how to smile yesterday but anyways...

Dress: Asos Curve (22)
Scarf: Dots
Necklace: Rugged Wearhouse
Polka Dot Thigh Highs: Wal-mart
Heels: Target

So, I took a risk and wore this dress to work. I figured it was loose enough around the legs and with the scarf over my tummy, I could pass for being in the dress code. (We actually have a rule that there must be at least one inch between a person and the fabric of their clothing.) I think it went pretty well and I actually got a lot of compliments which I wasn't expecting so that was nice.

So have you guys stepped out of your comfort zones lately? Are there trends you like but have been scared to try? Tell me about it in the comments below!

OOTD: Peplum in Pumpkin

I'm still rocking this whole peplum trend... I said I was going wear this one into the ground and I meant it! I snagged this top from Forever21 a couple weeks ago and I love the texture and color. It's perfect for fall which is my fave season. I can't wait for it to get a little cooler so I can break out the jeans and comfy sweaters! Until then, I'm going to get a few more wears out of my skirts without tights.

OOTD: Sort of a Re-Do

This is going to be a super-quick post today. I didn't realize it until I pulled up my blog to write this but I sort of copied my last outfit. So, it's just a pleated skirt with a long sweater again.

Sweater: Thrifted (2x)
Skirt: Eloquii.com (22/24) (last year)
Top: Forever21 (3)
Shoes: Target

Thanks for stopping by!

OOTD: Pleats "Accordian" to Me

I've had this skirt in the back of my closet for weeks and for some reason, I hadn't got around to wearing it until today. Why did I wait so long?!  I'm a big fan of accordion pleats and the color of this skirt makes it stand out from the crowd. It's so light and swishy and I feel super girly in this frock.

Skirt: City Chic (22)
Top: Hanes (42)
Slubknit Cardigan: Ross' (2x)
Belt: Walmart (years ago)
Shoes: Target
Necklace: Kohl's

But about my top... yeah, that's totally your standard issue plain white sports bra. I just pulled the skirt up high on my waist and put a belt on where the two meet. I got a lot of compliments on my "dress" today which is always nice but I was so amused on the inside because I was wearing a bra as a shirt and no one seemed the wiser. Fun times!

P.S.-- Georgette at Grown and Curvy Woman also has a great take on this skirt! Check out her post here.

OOTD: Inspired

One of the most interesting parts of fashion or fatshion blogging for me is connecting with other bloggers and drawing inspiration from their style. Sometimes, I'll see something so simple yet so adorable and chic that I'll think to myself "why didn't I think of that?" I had one of those moments the other day while catching up on my blog reading. Katie of Hems for Her posted this adorable outfit a couple weeks ago and I thought it was perfect!  She took on zebra by pairing it with a mint belt and shoes. (And Katie... I'm jealous of those shoes! They are so cute!)

As for me, I have a tendency to pair black and white with red and the last time I wore my zebra print shrug, I stuck to the old standby.  Remember this?

Well this time around, I was feeling a little inspired and I paired the same dress, shrug, and shoes with a green belt and statement necklace.

Same outfit. Different accessories. I really like what a little color can do to change up what's already in the closet.

Dress & Shrug: Catos
Belt: ASOS Curve
Shoes: Old Navy

So, are there any little twists or tricks you like to add to an outfit to change it up? Tell me in the comments below!

OOTD: Roses are Red...

... or in this case, they're pink. I'm having too much fun with this peplum t-shirt. It dresses up so nicely but goes great with casual jeans and flats just the same.

Top: Dots (3x)
Skirt: Target (XXL) - last year
Cardigan: Old Navy (XXL)
Belt: off this F21 dress
Necklace: Kohl's
Heels: Torrid

I have a thing for floral pattens, especially vintage or antique looking prints like on this top. They just do it for me but I've noticed a lot of comments on Facebook and Twitter pages of plus size clothing companies where women just go off about how much they hate floral prints and feel like they're an injustice to plus size women everywhere. Which leads me to a question... are flower prints a do or a don't for your wardrobe? And if not, why? (Seriously, I want to know why so many people hate the flowers, lol.) As for me, I'll continue my little obsession.

OOTD: Rain, Rain, Go Away

This outfit is from the other day when the weather was just awful. I took these pictures about 11:00 in the morning and look how dark it is outside! Ick!

Sweater: Old Navy (xxl)
Skirt: thrifted
Heels: Torrid
Necklace: eBay

I was not feeling this rain situation at all. I don't mind stormy weather when I'm at home with my family, snuggled in a blanket with a good book but when I have to go out in this mess, it just makes me have this scowly face right here...

And it looks like I'm not the only one that gets rainy day blues. I went home at lunch to walk the glorious Bella Roo and this what I came home to. So dramatic for such a little dog...

I didn't know it was possible for a dog to look so forlorn and it only got worse when I made her go outside to do her business. I swear, she is such a priss.

OOTD: Bubblegum Pop

I'm really loving this outfit. It's so deliciously colorful and bright. I'm going to ask Santa Clause for a camera this Christmas because seriously, my cell phone is not doing the colors any justice! The skirt is a rich minty teal and the heels are patent navy blue which matches the background of the top. The pattern makes me think of gumballs in a quarter machine. It's just so light and fresh... I just love it!

Top: eShakti (24)
Skirt: Dots (3x)
Heels: Zara
Not Pictured: plain white cardigan (Target - plus size 2)
